Ferbai, the online store that promotes the short chain and sustainable consumption in the weekly purchase (04/12/2018)

The store offers detailed information about manufacturers' production processes, which users can filter by geographical area or characteristics such as size or be a cooperative.

Everything is designed to convey clearly what differentiates these companies from others that do not address the issue of sustainability.

Up to 20% of the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the consumption of a family are due to the production and transport of food, from the field to the kitchen.

Thanks to the reduction of meat consumption, the predilection of seasonal fruit and vegetables and the purchase of local products, a home can significantly reduce its air pollution.

With the aim of facilitating a more sustainable purchase, Ferbai is born: an electronic platform for direct purchase from local manufacturers.

Tristano De Gregoris, an Italian established in Murcia for a decade, has launched an online store with which it is possible to manage a weekly shopping more respectful of resources.

Ferbai differentiates itself from other online supermarkets because it gives more importance to the producer than to the product, to people than to merchandise.

In addition, the company has developed a logistics service for manufacturers of hybrid type, Amazon style, which links the classic purchase-sale marketplace model.

"Everything we manage from our warehouses, to be able to offer home delivery within 24 hours of the weekly purchase, a system that improves margins for manufacturers by optimizing the supply chain," says De Gregoris.

Currently it has a logistics center in Santomera (Murcia) and another in Madrid, with the aim of opening Valencia throughout 2019.

All companies interested in selling their products in Ferbai go through an internal audit, which assesses the three axes of sustainability: the environmental footprint, working conditions and business practices.

An audit inspired to the values of the social and solidarity economy, which comes to offer a look at possible areas of internal and external sustainable development, both for companies that approach for the first time to issues of corporate responsibility than to more advanced projects: "We want promote among our manufacturers a positive attitude towards the ecosystem and its employees ".

Despite having just taken its first steps, the project already has 16 manufacturers, mostly based in Murcia and Alicante, who put on sale more than 300 products, from fruit and vegetables collected during the day to products for the home clean.
