Investment of 2.5 million to reopen the heated pool and modernize the lighting network (19/01/2019)

More than 1.5 million will be used to renovate with LED technology 2,503 lights from Santomera, El Siscar and La Matanza

The pool will change its air conditioning system, will have a solar parking and will divide its glass to be able to reopen eight winters after

The wait was worth it.

A year and a half after formalizing the request, it is finally official: Santomera will receive more than two million euros from the Feder operating program of sustainable growth.

Specifically, the consistory santomerano get 2,021,323 euros, a very juicy part of the nearly 13.5 million that the European Union will allocate to small municipalities Murcia reduce carbon dioxide emissions and improve the energy efficiency of their facilities.

This line of grants covers 80% of the total costs, which will allow the City Council to only add an additional contribution of 497,417 euros.

Thanks to this money, the six projects to which the government team formed by PSOE and Alternativa aspired could be executed.

Three of them focus on the renovation and modernization of the old network of public lighting, while the remaining half will optimize the energy consumption of the Municipal Pool in view of its reopening as a heated installation.

Regarding the deadlines, it is expected that the specifications and other technical documents will be released during the next month of February, that the works be tendered over the next two months and that the works begin in May.

Streetlights with LED technology

The three projects for the renovation of outdoor lighting are separated by areas of action that include, respectively, part of the urban area of Santomera, the entire nucleus of El Siscar and the entire population of La Matanza.

Thus, Santomera would replace a total of 1,701 luminaries, another 494 in El Siscar and 308 more in La Matanza.

The performance will therefore make it possible to modernize with LED systems a total of 2,503 streetlights, half of those installed in the municipal area.

Thanks to this, all still using mercury vapor, an obsolete technology that in many cases goes back to periods even prior to municipal segregation, will be eliminated and those that use high pressure sodium vapor will be considerably reduced.

In this way, all exterior public lighting will comply with current regulations and with current standards of energy efficiency and light pollution.

The total amount of these three subsidies amounts to 1,221,233 euros and, in addition to reducing CO2 emissions, it will make it possible to reduce the energy consumption of the public lighting network by approximately 65%.

This will give the City Council an economic saving of close to 90,000 euros per year, so that the municipal investment of 305,307 euros will be amortized in just over four years.

As an added value, the new luminaires will contribute to generating more friendly and safe urban spaces.

One million for the pool

Optimizing the energy efficiency of the Municipal Pool will mean, for its part, an overall investment of 992,200 euros, of which only 192,110 will come from the City Hall.

Most of this total (768,350 euros) will be allocated to the replacement of the thermal envelope, changing the current roofing system, with wooden skeleton and tarpaulin, on the other based on polycarbonate plates that open and close quickly on rails of motorized form;

the new materials will avoid thermal leaks and at the same time capture solar heat, as a greenhouse, which will reduce energy consumption by around 10%.

A second technical project, budgeted at 146,410 euros, will make it possible to change the current gas boilers, installed in 2005, for other biomass boilers, more efficient and with lower CO2 emissions.

Finally, 77,440 euros will be spent on building an installation in the parking lot, a 30-kilowatt photovoltaic installation that will have a double benefit: it will provide shade to the vehicles and will use the solar heat to generate 18% of the electricity cleanly and free of charge consumed throughout the sports venue.

The sum of these three actions will facilitate the reopening of the heated Municipal Pool, closed in 2011, a point that both PSOE and Alternative contemplated in their respective electoral programs.

In addition, the Department of Sports plans to take advantage of the works to divide the main vessel in two, which currently has a length of 49 meters.

Thus, there would be two separate spaces: one for recreational use, in the part of less draft, and another for sporting purposes, 25 meters long, respecting the necessary regulatory measures for official short pool competitions.

A "historical investment"

It is "one of the largest subsidies obtained by this City Council in its forty years of history," highlighted this morning the mayor, Inma Sánchez Roca, during the presentation of the projects that will be executed with that money.

Making them a reality, he said, will contribute to a more friendly and modern municipality, "committed to the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development", which places people, the planet and prosperity in the focus of public policy " Next to it have been the Councilor for Works and Services, Joaquín Rubio, and the mayor of Deportes, Javier Campillo, in front of the areas directly benefited, although the event, held at the gates of the Municipal Pool, has brought the team together of Government to the complete one and half hundred of neighbors and neighbors.

"All these projects" are in the DNA of the current government team, which aims to create a more sustainable and friendly Santomera, "said Rubio, and the mayor of Obras y Servicios has focused on the future modernization of the lighting network. , which in addition to generating "healthier and safer spaces" will allow, over the twenty years of useful life that the new luminaires will have, "save about two million euros that we can allocate to other important purposes such as education or social services".

For his part, the Councilor for Sports has stressed that the announcement of the reopening of the heated pool "is the culmination of almost four years of work, the result of which will be to recover for the municipality of Santomera a very important sports facility, which had a thousand users when they closed it in 2011. "

Javier Campillo has also stressed that the Municipal Pool is the only municipal facility that allows improving the health and quality of life of people of any age: "Men, women, babies, the elderly, pregnant women, people with disabilities or people will enjoy it equally. people rehabilitating themselves from an injury, and despite that, there are still those who still dare to say that it is not profitable.
