EuroVértice leads the Alia Group to the circular economy in the pig sector with a pioneering project in Europe (19/06/2019)

The company based in the Science Park of Murcia completes a pilot plan within the European project CIRC4Life that will be executed during the next two years in the Lorca company and will serve as an example of good practices in this livestock segment in the European Union.

The companies EuroVértice and Alia are collaborating in the implementation of a circular economy model in the pig sector in the pig sector to develop sustainable products and services, through its value chain and supply.

The initiative is part of the CIRC4Life European project, which encourages the development of new business models, based on recycling and maximum waste reduction.

Alia, agrarian society of transformation, is dedicated to the manufacture of feed for animals, producing more than 12 million kilos per month, as well as animal marketing and the production of meat products, under the brand name 'Los Quijales'.

Its adaptation to the circular economy will favor its positioning in the market with products and services adapted to the future needs of consumers, where the experts point to a growth in the demand for offers that reduce the pressure on the environment.

Based on this trend, the commitment to sustainability would lead the firm to greater acceptance among customers and increased productivity.

Pilot project in Europe

Alia faces its new initiative within CIRC4life, being one of the 17 partners of the eight European countries participating in the European project, which is led by the University of Nottingham and financed with more than seven million euros by the Horizon 2020 program.

The project will develop three business models, covering all stages of the production cycle, the use of products and services to bring the final users closer to the design and the proposal of merchandise, in order to facilitate the use of them at the end of its useful life and encourage sustainable consumption.

The company responsible for defining the pilot to be installed in the Alia Group is EuroVértice, an expert consultancy in Europe.

From its headquarters in the Science Park of Murcia, attached to the Institute of Development, is developing a series of co-creation workshops for users to test prototypes of new products in their real-use environment, interact with them and provide input for improve the final products.

The pilot will also promote the reuse and recycling of products, through an incentive system and the promotion of sustainable consumption.

For this, a method will be developed that will calculate the environmental impacts of the products, in order that the consumers have the precise information when making their decisions.

Since its establishment in 2006, EuroVértice has been working with leading companies and organizations to facilitate their access to European funds, with a return of more than 200 million euros.

He is currently developing different circular economy projects in the water sector, wine and in rural areas, as well as in the pig sector.

Nuria Prior, partner and general director of the consultancy, argues that the participation of companies in European projects brings multiple benefits, among which "it is important to know the most innovative actions that are being developed in the scope of each company or entity, in addition to to be able to establish relationships with research centers and organizations throughout Europe ".

Also, Prior emphasizes that the route also facilitates access to funds and knowledge to develop new projects, "with a view to grow in positioning in front of the competition, as well as being an optimal way to quickly adapt to changes in consumption and regulation." From the market".
