Twelve arrested in a farm after inspection of the National Police (09/05/2016)

They took advantage of the irregular situation of its employees to submit to abusive conditions in the workplace

National Police agents have arrested in the town of Santomera twelve people between workers and a company responsible for handling vegetables allegedly subjected their workers to various abuses in labor matters.

Plus one of the workers filed a complaint of sexual harassment in the workplace.

In the middle of last month, the Unit Against Illegal Immigration Networks and Falsehoods Documentary (UCRIF) of the Police Headquarters of Murcia, was aware of a number of irregularities carried out in a company handling vegetables.

Apparently, one of the managers and two employees of the company, repeatedly, another worker subjected to insinuations, exhibitions and touching of a sexual nature.

After the first checks an investigation was launched and it was found that workers were being subjected to abusive conditions of labor advantage of the situation of irregularity of one of them.

In many cases, labor contracts were for one or two days with a working day of eight hours, when actually work all month long days of twelve hours a day;

the wages were paid was not produced per kilogram per hour worked, as it regulates labor agreement;

they were not provided with work tools or safety, having to buy themselves working utensils and the treatment of foreign workers was demeaning and humiliating, being constantly threatened with dismissal if they complained about working conditions.

In the Police and Labour Inspection, held at the headquarters of the company, the presence of two people in an irregular situation was detected which would meet usurping the identity of other compatriots in legal situation.

For this reason he stopped both the usurpers and to the usurped being responsible for the company themselves who encouraged the realization of this criminal conduct criminalized.

After several inquiries was also detected that former employees of the company, having usurped the identity of other compatriots were currently collecting unemployment or social aid, it will be detracted criminal and administrative responsibility.

The operation culminated last week with the arrest of 12 people, six of them Spanish nationality, two Senegalese, two Nigerian and two Moroccans, aged between 25 and 47 years old.

The operation was conducted by agents of the UCRIF of the Provincial Brigade Aliens and Borders Police Headquarters of Murcia in collaboration with the Inspectorate of Labour and Social Security and Local Police Santomera.
