The City Council starts construction of the school cafeteria of CEIP Ricardo Campillo (17/01/2017)

This morning work has begun on equipping the school Ricardo Campillo with a school cafeteria, a long demand from the educational community of the center.

The work, promoted by the councils of Education and Works and Services, will consist of the adaptation of a flag in disuse to get it to have the necessary facilities for its new use.

The project prepared by the municipal technical services had a bidding budget of 46,042.92 euros.

However, the free competition process opened by the Santomera City Council has allowed the submission of four offers, the lowest of which, by Joaquín Muñoz López, has taken the contract for a total of 36,300 euros.

The works have a term of execution of fifteen working days, so that they must finish, at most, during the second week of February.

This will fulfill the commitment made a few months ago by the municipal government team with the direction and the ampa of the school, according to remarks the mayor of Works and Services, Joaquín Rubio Gomariz.

The Councilor for Education, María José Medina Palao, stressed that, "in addition to expanding the more than filled supply of dining places in our municipality, we will move towards the goal that all centers in the municipality provide the same services and Are on an equal footing. "

When the work is completed, the pavilion, formerly occupied by children, will be converted into a school dining room.

One of the two existing classrooms will properly serve as a refectory with capacity for forty guests, while the other will be divided in half, giving room to the kitchen and a multipurpose room.

An office will also be set up to enable a wardrobe and a pantry and a new door will be built in the kitchen to facilitate access and exit of materials.

On the other hand, the toilets and the cleaning room will be maintained.

Canteen service

The director general of Centers, Maria Dolores Valcárcel, has already committed to provide the necessary staff and the catering service with which the new dining room will function.

If that issue was resolved quickly, the dining room could begin to run through February.
