City Council lowers IBI rate for the second time in three years (20/10/2017)

There is also an increase in bonuses for large families, which can now be saved up to 90% of the receipt

The "contribution" affecting urban real estate will decline again in 2018. This was agreed last night in the October Ordinary Plenary, during which a reduction of three points in the applicable tax rate was approved: from 0.53 to 0.5%.

The measure will benefit most of the families of Santomeras, which will save about 6% on receipts related to urban properties;

the assets of a rustic nature and those classified as special characteristics, for which the tax rate is maintained in the previous parameters: 0.74 and 1.3% respectively, remain outside the reform.

The amendment of the tax ordinance that regulates the Real Estate Tax (IBI), certified by the support of the four municipal political groups, although formally Citizens abstained from voting at the appropriate time, his spokesman later indicated that he had done so favor, it is not, however, reduced to this main question of the tax rate.

The Government team formed by PSOE and Alternativa also took the opportunity to increase considerably the subsidies applicable to large families, which will increase from 25 to 50% in the case of units with three descendants, from 50 to 75% when there are four and from 75 to 90% when they are five or more.

Another important point of the reform is the suppression of subsidies for sector F, an area that had an exaggerated cadastral value, considerably depreciated now after the requalification of the soil as rustic.

Overall, and not counting possible new registrations, the measure will mean a reduction in the revenues of the City Council of 264,000 euros, according to the calculations of the intervener.

Councilor for Finance, Alberto Menárguez, said that "we have studied the impact on budgetary stability and financial sustainability of the City and expenses will be reduced in 2018 in the same proportion as revenues."

The mayor added during the plenary a very illustrative real example: "A family with three descendants, a house with a cadastral value of 212,106 euros and an annual income of less than 35,000 euros paid 1,166.58 euros of 'contribution' in 2015. In 2018 you will receive a receipt of only 530.27 euros, which will mean a decrease of more than 52%. "

Chained downs

"This downturn is just one more step on our path to achieving a solvent, economically stable Administration, but at the same time respecting our neighbors. We can already add this achievement to those we have already achieved since our arrival in the Government: in In 2015, we have already reduced the IBI by 4%. In 2016, we advanced the amortization of 2.7 million debt and in 2017 we eliminated the opening rate and signs and approved new increases in the Tax on Buildings, Facilities and Works (ICIO). always the average period of payment to suppliers within legal limits, "said Menárguez.
