Diocese of Cartagena acquires the house of the Sisters of Jesus Maria de Santomera for the Minor Seminary of San Jose (03/11/2015)

The increase of vocations to the priesthood has been one of the triggers for that for years the Bishop of Cartagena wanted to acquire its own building to locate the Minor Seminary of San Jose, which now shares facilities with the Major Seminary San Fulgencio.

Knowing that religious Jesus Mary Santomera marched to join the community of Murcia, it was agreed with them buying your home.

"For them it has been a great joy to the house of Santomera out to have a use for the formation of seminarians," says Bishop.

The farm that religious had in Santomera, which in recent years had served as a residence for the elderly sisters, will be the new location for the formation of minor seminarians, 37 currently 12 living in the Seminar on internal governance and 25 others attending the Seminar a weekend every fortnight, in what is called Family Seminar.

Mons. Lorca says the minor seminary "is not outdated" and expected to have own facilities is a more incentive for young people who are feeling the call to the priesthood.

In early summer about a hundred young people participated in vocational camp, a symptom, according to Mr. Bishop, denoting that there is a manifest interest of many young people who need to discern their vocation.

The rector of St. Joseph Minor Seminary, Sebastian Chico, this course highlights the new facilities for gatherings, meetings and retreats will be used, while it is renovating the building so you can accept, perhaps for next year, permanently seminarians minors.
