The Civil Guard dismantles a criminal group dedicated to drug trafficking in Santomera (05/12/2019)

Under the appearance of a workshop and car wash used two ships for storage and distribution of the drug

In the two registries practiced 160 doses of cocaine of great purity, one kilo of hashish and two vehicles where they hid the narcotic substances were seized

The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, within the framework of the services established to prevent and prosecute drug trafficking, has developed the 'ATELIERS' operation that has culminated in the dismantling of a criminal group, whose three members have been arrested as alleged perpetrators of drug trafficking offenses, two of them also for threats of crimes and against the rights of foreign workers.

In the registry practiced in a ship located in the municipality of Santomera, 160 doses of cocaine of great purity, one kilo of hashish, two vehicles where they hid the drug, as well as precision scales and other tools intended for dosing and sale.

The investigation began last October, thanks to citizen collaboration, when the Civil Guard had knowledge of the supposed and continuous traffic of narcotic substances that several individuals could be carrying out in the municipality.

After collecting the necessary information, the civil guards focused the investigation on a group of people, of Spanish and Moroccan nationalities, who were known to run a vehicle repair shop and a laundry in Santomera.

The numerous surveillance and monitoring services allowed locating the areas where the sale of the drug usually took place, usually in the vicinity of these establishments, although another series of transactions in the premises themselves were not ruled out.

Recently, once the necessary evidence has been obtained, the Benemérita has requested from the judicial authority the corresponding entry and registration orders for both establishments.

In the workshop, the agents found high purity cocaine hidden in the central glove compartment of a vehicle.

It is about 160 doses that in the black market would have reached more than 25,000 euros.

In another vehicle, and thanks to the participation of the cynological unit specialized in drug detection, the dog located a double fund practiced by hand in tourism, where a kilo of hashish was found.

In addition to the drug and the two vehicles, the Civil Guard seized several precision scales and the tools used for handling and dosing the substances.

According to the investigation, those arrested had organized a criminal plot consisting of the acquisition of drugs that they later manipulated and dosed for retail sale.

One of those arrested, a Moroccan citizen who worked in the workshop, lacked an employment contract and, apparently, was being threatened and coerced by the alleged leader, to participate in the business of selling drugs.

The ATELIERS operation, which is still open, has allowed the arrest of three people - men, aged 20, 34 and 44, of Moroccan and Spanish nationalities;

and neighbors of Santomera - as alleged perpetrators of drug trafficking offenses, two of them also for threats of crimes and against the rights of foreign workers.

The arrested, the drug, the vehicles and the intervened effects, as well as the proceedings taken have been made available to the Court of Instruction number 3 of Murcia.
