The XXV Regional Tennis Championship has set the curtain this morning, after eight days of competition in which they have gathered the best Murcia racquets of the moment and their greatest promises of the future.
In addition to the men's and women's categories, a total of 33 participants have demonstrated their tremendous level during the matches played at the Municipal Sports Center of Santomera, a municipality that for the second consecutive year has hosted the most important tournament of those organized by the Region's Tennis Federation Of Murcia.
Thanks to the collaboration of the Tennis Club El Limonar and the Department of Sports santomerana, the competition has developed with total normality, saving the forced changes in the calendar due to bad weather in recent weeks.
In the men's category, Jesús García, from Torre Pacheco, has been proclaimed absolute regional champion for the second consecutive year, after defeating in the final the Venezuelan Murcia-born Rafa Martínez.
On the other hand, the aquiline Alba Rey, of only fourteen years, prevailed in the feminine category, seconded by Alba Pedrero, of Puerto Lumbreras.
Between them and them were distributed the thousand euros in cash placed in liza and, more important, the prestige of being recognized as the best in the Region.
The ceremony of awards, held this morning in the facilities of the Municipal Sports Center, was attended by the Mayor of Santomera, Inmaculada Sánchez Roca, Councilor for Sports, Javier Campillo, President of the Federation of Tennis The Region of Murcia, Jose Alcolea, and Manuel Frutos, representative of the Tennis Club El Limonar.
