They claim the company "management and recovery of waste by wood dust emissions and noise. (08/02/2011)

Ecologists in Action has reported to the SEPRONA, Santomera City Council and Ministry of Agriculture and Water, the risk to the health of the residents that this company is producing.

Ecologists in Action complained to the Department of Nature Protection of the Guardia Civil (SEPRONA) Santomera before the City Council and to the Ministry of Agriculture and Water of the situation created by a company dedicated to the repair of pallets and crushing different types of wood, which produces noise and especially large amounts of powdered very fine sawdust that invades the properties of residents living near the company.

This happens, according to environmentalists, because the company does not have the means to not emit particles of dust into the atmosphere, with the aggravating circumstance that hardwood dust is carcinogenic to humans, and dust from the rest wood also produces health problems for people, as is proved by medical studies.

This situation persists despite the numerous complaints from residents of the area and the resolution of August 13, 2010 of disciplinary proceedings against the commercial "waste management and recovery, opened by the municipality of Santomera following the neighborhood complaints.

The Resolution of August 13, 2010, the council decreed the closure of all unlicensed facilities (which are approximately one third of the current area) and the imposition of remedial measures consisting of the closure of all timber deposits and sawdust and machinery needed for treatment and repair, in order to avoid any noise or release of dust particles produced by processing and deposit, the neighborhood nuisance, having to apply materials sound absorbency of the wood treatment and operation of engines.

However, as denounced by the environmental association, although it is now over six months since the resolution of the council, the residents continue to endure the dust and noise harmful to your health, because the company has not made any of corrective action or has undertaken the cleaning of illegal dumps facilities and ordering the city council.

Environmentalists believe that the inaction of local authorities to these events is shameful, and that is putting at risk the health of neighbors for the sake of the benefit of a private company through illegal activity facilities.

This failure to implement the measures, could be understood as transgression by default for the purposes of Article 329 of the Penal Code by the authorities, with the unfortunate history in the municipality of ARIMESA Quarry (illegal quarry owned by the President of the Chamber of Commerce, which has spent years working without a license).

Ecologists in Action have asked the City Council Santomera to execute the orders contained in the resolution of disciplinary proceedings and appropriate referral to the cessation of all activities the company carries out and not comply with current legislation as indicated by the decision of the disciplinary proceedings .

This is without prejudice to the company was able to appeal this decision, which can never result in the suspension of the effects of that punishment, involving residents free of a burden that is affecting fundamental rights as a dignified life , physical integrity, privacy of the home and property.

Ecologists in Action and the company's neighbors have expressed their intention to inform the Environmental Prosecutor of the Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Murcia facts and a copy of the disciplinary proceedings of the City of Santomera, if you understand that by authorities or the company may be committing environmental crimes.
