Karina's music will be responsible for opening the full program of activities designed by the Department of Women to claim in Santomera, gender equality and the rights of women in the poorest countries on the occasion of International Women's Day, the March 8.

The free concert will offer the legendary singer in the Assembly Hall on Wednesday 4 March from 20.30, will kick off the talks, film forum, women's dinner and the second edition of the 'Awards + Igual'09 '; expected to mark a date as indicated.

"Despite the enormous progress that has seen women in all spheres of society, there are still many countries where their rights are violated," stressed the Councillor for Women, María Dolores Abellán, as the main reason to extend programming from 4 until 8 March.
